Security Footage Shows Neighbors Attacking Homeless Shelter Residents

Summary: Security footage confirmed a violent attack by neighbors on the night of September 5th at St. Anneā€™s homeless shelter in Minneapolis. The footage revealed that the violence occurred in two stages, before and after police presence. Neighbors from two homes across the street were seen attacking shelter residents, smashing doors with a bat, and vandalizing a resident's vehicle.

Cause of the Attack: St. Anneā€™s Place staff reported that the attack was the culmination of ongoing disputes over street parking. People Serving People, which operates the shelter, relocated about 50 women and children to local hotels due to safety concerns.

Initial Police Action: Minneapolis Police arrived after much of the violence had already taken place. Security footage revealed that officers first spoke to the aggressors before addressing the shelterā€™s residents. People Serving People criticized the police response, claiming officers were dismissive of victims and failed to make any arrests, despite clear footage showing the attackers.

Ongoing Investigation: Minneapolis Police initially stated the shelterā€™s narrative was inaccurate and that no video evidence had been identified. However, on September 10, they acknowledged viewing some footage on the night of the attack but did not take it into custody.

University President Rebecca Cunningham emphasized the complexity of the deal but said there may be flexibility in the timeline if needed.

āÆ Labor Complaint Against Kimā€™s: The union representing workers at Kim's restaurant in Minneapolis has filed a federal unfair labor practices complaint, accusing the restaurant of union-busting after its abrupt closure. The union alleges "bad-faith" behavior and is seeking proof of the financial losses claimed as the reason for the closure along with compensation for earned PTO.

Trump Takes Aim At Minneapolis and Governor Walz In Presidential Debate

The Summary: Former President Donald Trump took aim at Minnesota and Minneapolis on multiple issues during the debate on Tuesday evening.

On Abortion: Trump specifically called out Minnesotaā€™s abortion laws making a claim that Minnesota allows for what he called ā€œexecution after birth.ā€ While Minnesota does allow for late-term abortions, infanticide is illegal in all states.

On 2020 Unrest: Trump also claimed that ā€œWalz let rioters burn Minneapolis to the groundā€ during the 2020 civil unrest. Some Minnesotanā€™s took to social media to post their sarcastic responses to this claim.

Walz Up Next: Governor Tim Walz is set to face JD Vance in the vice presidential debate on October 1st.

Well, earlier this year the Downtown Alliance released their' ā€œDowntown Investment Strategyā€ which included key priorities like implementing an office-to-residential conversion incentives program and investing in pedestrian-oriented streetscape improvements.

The Racket also came up with their ā€œ10 ambitious ideas for downtown St. Paulā€ with some more practical than others including a water park, funicular, and an observation wheel (you need to create a log-in to view the article).

Iā€™ll be honest, I have no idea where this trend of saying things are ā€œvery demureā€ came from but I continue to see it on my social media. Now, the Minnesota DOT has gotten in on the action with their interstate signs.
