Here is what’s happening in the Twin Cities this weekend.
MSP International Film Fest 🎬

The 44th Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival (MSPIFF) is taking place from April 2 to April 13 across multiple venues in the Twin Cities, including The Main Cinema, Capri Theater, Landmark Center in St. Paul, and the Edina Mann Theatre. This year’s festival features over 200 films from around the world, along with filmmaker appearances, panels, parties, and special events.
Key Highlights:
Opening Night (April 2): The festival kicks off with Free Leonard Peltier, a documentary revisiting the controversial conviction of Native American activist Leonard Peltier. Director Jesse Short Bull and producer Jhane Meyers will attend the screening at The Main Cinema, followed by an Opening Night Party at Owamni.
Tribute to Ang Lee: The festival includes a tribute to two-time Oscar-winning director Ang Lee, featuring screenings of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Brokeback Mountain. Lee will also host a Filmmaker Conversation on April 6.
Panels and Events: A full day of industry panels on April 5 will cover topics like intimacy coordination and festival strategies. Live performances and appearances by special guests such as opera star Frederica von Stade are also scheduled.
Notable Films:
Brooklyn, Minnesota: A Minnesota-made film about family dynamics screened on April 4.
Acts of Reparation: A documentary exploring family secrets, showing April 3 and April 5 at Capri Theater.
Folktales: A Sundance-featured documentary about teens in a Norwegian Folk School screened on April 11.
Sima’s Song: A North American premiere directed by Roya Sadat, highlighting women’s struggles during Afghanistan's civil war.

Twins Home Opener ⚾

The Minnesota Twins host the Houston Astros today for their 2025 home opener today at Target Field. Whether you’re attending today or sometime later this season, here is everything you need to know.
Pre-Game Festivities: The Twins home opener festivities begin early this morning with Breakfast on the Plaza from 6-9 a.m., offering fans a chance to enjoy free food and drinks while soaking in the pre-game atmosphere. Gates open at 1 p.m., allowing fans to get settled before the first pitch at 3:10 p.m. The first 10,000 fans will receive a Twin City Connect Beanie, matching the Twins' Nike City Connect uniforms. Nelson Cruz will throw out the ceremonial first pitch, and the National Anthem will be performed by cast members from the Chanhassen Dinner Theater
Ballpark Experience: Target Field has undergone several upgrades for the 2025 season, including a new market-style concession area on the main concourse and an upgraded 5G network to enhance connectivity. The Twins also allow fans to bring in certain outside food items, though beverages are limited to sealed water bottles and soft-sided containers for children
New Food: Target Field will have 15 new food items for fans to try this season. Some highlights include a grilled SPAM sandwich, walleye tacos, grand slam shawarma, and tokidoki wings.
Promotions: The Twins have a full line-up of promotions set for home games throughout the season like Bark at the Park, Star Wars night, country night, and prince night.
Tickets: Plenty of tickets are still available for this weekend’s series with prices starting at $21.
