What We Know From Minnesota’s Election Results 🗳

Presidential Race 🏛
🔵 Kamala Harris won the state of Minnesota to claim its 10 electoral college votes.
🗳 At the time of publishing, neither candidate had reached the necessary 270 electoral votes to win the presidency. Former President Donald Trump has secured key victories in the battleground states of Pennsylvania, Georgia, and North Carolina creating a clear path to victory.
Federal Election Results ✔
🔵 Senate: Democrat Amy Klobuchar won her re-election Senate campaign over GOP challenger Royce White.
🔵 House 2nd District: Democrat Angie Craig won her re-election congressional campaign over challenger Joe Teirab in the 2nd District.
🔵 House 3rd District: Democrat Kelly Morrison defeated Tade Jude in the 3rd district to claim a seat that was previously held by Dean Phillips.
🔵 House 4th District: Results have were not made official at the time of publishing.
🔵 House 5th District: Democrat Ilhan Omar won her re-election campaign in the 5th Congressional District. It will be her fourth term in office.
School Board Results 🏫
❯ Greta Callahan, a former teachers union leader, secured a victory in southwest Minneapolis, winning over Lara Bergman.
❯ Kim Ellison, who has held a position on the school board since 2013, won her reelection bid against accountant Shayla Owodunni.
❯ Sharon El-Amin, representing the north side, and Adriana Cerrillo, covering downtown and parts of south Minneapolis, both ran unopposed and were reelected with ease.
❯ On November 12, board members will appoint another new member to represent a south Minneapolis district, filling the vacancy created by Faheema Feerayarre’s recent resignation.
Ballot Issue Results 📃
❯ Voters passed a $20 million levy aimed at supporting school technology, but while this brings in additional funding, it’s unlikely to fully prevent future budget cuts.
❯ At the time of publishing this newsletter, Minnesota’s only constitutional amendment question on the ballot showed voters favoring renewal of dedicated lottery funding for the outdoors.
❯ In St. Paul, results had not been reported on the ballot measure about whether the city should levy taxes to provide early learning subsidies.
Other Key Notes 👀
❯ Republicans gained control of the U.S. Senate thanks in part to their victory in seats previously held by Democrats: Bernie Moreno knocked off Sen. Sherrod Brown in Ohio and Jim Justice won the West Virginia seat held by retiring Sen. Joe Manchin (I).
❯ Control of the Minnesota legislature had not been determined at the time of publishing this newsletter.
