Here is what’s happening in the Twin Cities this weekend.

TC Marathon Weekend 🏃‍♀️

After the Twin Cities Marathon and 10 mile races were cancelled last year due to heat, the races are set to make a comeback in a big way this year.

Key Information:

Timing: The headline races, 10 mile and marathon, both are run on Sunday. The TC 10 mile starts at 7am while the marathon kicks off at 8am

Race Maps: Check out the marathon map here and the 10 mile map here.

Where to watch: My personal favorite places to spectate include along Lake Harriet Parkway (between miles 7 and 8), at Lake Nokomis (between mile 11 and 14), along East River Road (between mile 19 and 21), and up Summit Ave (between miles 22 and 25). Also, check out the entertainment map that shows the other cheer zones and music along the course.

Hot Tip: TC Running Company hosts an awesome cheer zone at mile 24 that includes free food, drinks, music, and a great fan section.

Who To Watch: There will be a number of professional runners in the 10 mile and marathon fields who will be competing for a $20,000 prize purse. The marathon features the 2022 women’s defending champion Jessica Watychowicz as well as Kenya’s Dominic Ondoro who set the men’s marathon record in 2016. The 10 mile will feature 2024 Olympians Connor Mantz and Clayton Young.

Road Trip: New Ulm Oktoberfest 🍻

Get ready for one of the nation's top Oktoberfest celebrations (Ranked a top 10 OktoberFest by USA Today)! New Ulm’s Oktoberfest takes place over two weekends—October 4-5 and 11-12—at four main locations: Historic Downtown, Morgan Creek Vineyards, Schell’s Brewery, and Best Western Plus. This traditional German festival features beer, live music, food, and a variety of activities all over town.

Main Event Locations:

- Downtown (Oct 5): Keg tapping, a parade, live music, and fun competitions like stein-holding and yodeling.

- Morgan Creek Vineyards (Oct 5): Wine, beer, and hard cider tasting with live jazz and wood-fired pizza.

- Schell’s Brewery (Oct 12): Enjoy brewery tours, live music, and the traditional fest keg tapping.

- Best Western Plus (Oct 4-5, 11-12): Concord Singers, Schell’s Hobo Band, and more live performances, including local favorites like the Bockfest Boys.
